Visual identity design for the exhibition nowhere left but here, here i am again at Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong.
Letters, maps, postcards, stamps, and other printed materials are often associated with conceptual art practices – in the Artists’ Book Library’s latest project, nowhere left but here, here i am again, these mediums not only serve as a means of corresponding over great distances, but as sites through which to document and share the artists’ most intimate moments.
The project assembles a group of international contemporary artists, as well as drawing from the library’s own collection, in responding to Tai Kwun Contemporary’s summer exhibition, On Kawara: Rules of Freedom, Freedom of Rules. In an age where the “self” is endlessly asserted and negated through its presence online, these artists continue choosing “print technology” as a creative tool to communicate, to capture or “map” connectivity. Through these concrete forms acting as surrogates for themselves and their respective realities, their works highlight how art in print endures as a mode of self-expression.

书信、地图、明信片、邮票等印刷品是常见于概念艺术的媒介——艺术家书籍图书馆的最新项目「只有此处,重回此地」以此作为连系遥远两地的通信手段,更视之为记录和分享艺术家私密时刻的场域。
项目云集多位国际当代艺术家的作品,亦包含图书馆馆藏,呼应大馆当代美术馆的夏季展览「河原温:自由之律,律之自由」。在网上世界不断确立又否定「自我」的时代,艺术家仍然选择以「印刷技术」作为创作交流的工具。他们以这种具体形式作为自身和现实的投射,试图捕捉或「绘制」人与人之间的连结,突显出印刷艺术如何持续作为自我表达的方式。
